You know what is the problem with most compact luxury homes? They are still too big to travel with at a moments notice. And the problem with most luxury trailer homes is that they are too reliant on the things which make them luxurious, including electricity and water. Sure, they can hold water in a reservoir, and most feature a good gas generator… but neither of these are what we’d call truly ‘self sufficient’ for a long-term stay in a remote area. And then there is the problem of finding a vehicle big enough to haul all this luxury around with you.
But there is another option.
Nice Architects out of Bratislava has built an ‘Ecocapsule’ home that features all the essentials for life (kitchen, bathroom, bed, etc.) in the luxuriously compact space of a mid-sized SUV (about 86 square feet).
And it does have water and electricity and ways to keep them replenished without topping off a gas tank or water reservoir. This is because it comes equipped to collect rainwater and store it underneath for when you need to shower, flush the toilet or cook. And don’t worry, it also has a high tech filter to make sure the water is always clean enough to drink.
The Ecocapsule also comes equipped with a solar roof panel and 750-watt wind turbine to harvest enough energy to run all the essentials around the home without interruption.
This seems like a pretty good idea to us. Road trip anyone?
