The Amazing Lego – From an Adult Perspective

Lego Dallas

Urbasm welcomes you back to your childhood this holiday season.

Except this time us adults are upping the ante as to what a pile of Lego’s should be able to accomplish with a little extra time and ingenuity.

How about this full kitchen counter top.  The best part is… there will always be room to expand with your growing family.

Lego’s have also been used to replicate entire urban landscapes. In fact, for the number of mini-figurines that are being produced, Lego expects to be manufacturing more ‘little people’ than actually exist in the real world by the year 2019. This means that Legoland could theoretically become more densely overpopulated than New York City.

This tech marvel consists of 2,405 pieces. It was built by lego enthusiast, Hayarobi from Korea, who made a working turntable with a matching tube amp and two classic cases to house its speakers. We’re not too sure how it sounds, but it looks fantastic.

Without a doubt, the largest Lego model ever built is this x-wing fighter. It has a wingspan of 44 feet, took 5,335,200 Lego bricks, and even comes with a life-sized R2-D2.

This Lego version of the USS Harry Truman took over 200,000 bricks to complete, weights over 350 pounds, and believe it or not… floats when the occasion calls for it.

Building a car out of Lego’s… it’s been done millions of times. However, a life-size model with a working 64-piston engine; now that is a little more impressive. And there are more mini-tires produced each year at the Lego plant than any single brand of tire (Goodyear, Michelin, etc.) in the world.

And then there is the Large Brick Collider, designed by JK Brickworks, capable of accelerating a Lego soccer ball to nearly 8 miles per hour.

The concept of an aircraft carrier, usable vehicle, or particle accelerator made out of Lego’s is not all that far-fetched, especially considering that each block of ABS quality plastic is molded under hundreds of pounds of pressure. This creates a highly durable and impact-resistant brick, which is a lot more resilient than most plastic adult products.

And with all that in mind—we’ve decided that we want Lego this holiday season.
