Without getting into specifics about the difference between the definition of a supercar and a ‘super’ car, I think we can all agree that Renovo Motors effort to build a 500 bhp electric car (EV) looks to be as successful on paper as it appears in photos. This EV is a two seater prototype, but what you see above and below is pretty much what the consumer is going to get, as the project is almost complete.
Its body and chassis is a factory-modified Shelby Daytona CSX9000. It is a design that was birthed over 50 years ago, yet remains as modern and beautiful as the day it was first unleashed onto virgin tarmac. Underneath this beautiful exterior is a pair of twin sequential axial-flux electric motors, each powering one rear wheel. Combined, the output of this super EV is about 500bhp and 1000 lb-ft of torque.
The lithium-ion battery pack can been modified extensively to accept a fast charge in as little as 30 minutes. However, the number that has really caught our imaginations is it acceleration from 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds, for a top speed of 120 mph.
Renovo is currently taking orders for a very limited production run. Read more about it here.
