Introducing Playboy Magazine’s 50th Anniversary Playmate. However, most of us know her as DJ Colleen Shannon, “The World’s Sexiest DJ”. She has performed at music venues in Hong Kong, Miami, Paris, London, Brazil, South Africa, Sweden and many others. She’s shared the stage with the likes of such musical icons as Sting, Tiesto, Snoop Dogg, Ceelo and Benny Benassi.
Shannon’s name has appeared alongside such musical geniuses as Will.i.am, Paul Oakenfold, Funk Master Flex, and Jazzy Jeff. She is currently a popular guest DJ at several venues across the country, and throughout this coming month we are proud to have her as our featured cover girl.
There is so much more to DJ Colleen Shannon than being sexy, and to prove our point we sat down and played 20 questions with her—although we’re only going to share six of them. A girl has to have her secrets.
Urbasm: Colleen, what can we look forward to seeing you in this year?
DJ Colleen Shannon: This year there will be a lot of action, including touring, modeling, acting, and I will be releasing a single called “Break-free” and a few surprises too!
Urb: Is there a pre-show ritual you do before hitting a club to ensure you’re on top of your game?
DJ Colleen: I normally go through my music in my hotel room—do yoga and push-ups in my hotel room and either have one glass of white wine or a sugar-free red bull. Oh, and of course I say one prayer to God, “Dear Lord, let me play beautiful music for these beautiful people.”
Urb: I see you are going to be spending a lot of time in Vegas this summer on tour. Do you have any Vegas insider tips on where a single bachelor can find a good time (other than your show, of course)?
DJ Coleen: Vegas is so fun. I advise men to go to Hakasan Night Club, and the pool parties in Vegas are amazing.
Urb: What are the top three items on your bucket list right now, and when do you think you will be able to cross them off?
DJ Colleen: I want to go to the Blue Lagoon in Iceland. I want to start a foundation called DJs Unite, where we can give back all around the world, and I wanna have sex on a plane or in an elevator.
Urb: What are three bits of advice that you would give any man, as far as how to approach, date, and maintain a relationship with a woman?
DJ Colleen: Men, for advice on women—treat us like a princess and we will treat you like a king. Girls love shoes and purses… duh! Last, but not least, if it’s real and it’s beautiful, you won’t need any advice.
Urb: Are you supportive or competitive with your fellow female DJ’s?
DJ Colleen: In general, I’m not competitive with anyone. I believe there is more than enough room for everyone, and that when another girl DJ succeeds, it helps us all. The scriptures say to “do unto others as I would do unto myself” and “to love my neighbors,” so I just want to spread love and light. No competition. It’s unnecessary.
