The typical guy has anywhere from three to thirty sunglasses lying around his pad, depending on what he intends to do with them. I have a pair for driving, one for hiking, one for losing (you know, the grocery store variety), and a couple that I pull out just when I want to look good.
I have found myself reaching for my Arnette’s quite a bit lately, and I have a pretty good idea why—they fit. It is difficult to design a pair of sunglasses that fit with a variety of occasions. Some can be a little too big, maybe too dark, not dark enough, or not the right style for the occasion.
It is difficult for a company to find that sweet spot. That pair of brown wingtips that seem to go with just about anything in your closet. However, I think that Arnette has done a fantastic job with creating a pair of sunglasses that fit your lifestyle, without playing a lot of musical sunglasses.
The pair I am currently rocking is their Dropout in Havana Brown color, and I love them. They have great coverage across my eyes, so very little light filters through. On the other hand, they are not overbearing. I have a couple of sport sunglasses that cover just as well, but do it by featuring a lot more plastic around my brow, which is not always a good thing.
The styling is very classic, which I tend to gravitate towards for everyday wear. The lenses are also great quality, finding a nice balance between blocking the sun (non-polarized), and allowing enough light through to see details even when popping indoors for a second.
Here’s something else I like about these; you get two color temple arms for each frame. In my set I have the matte Havana and a glossy black. You can switch out the arms with a twist of the provided tool, and then you’re left with a slightly different look.
These are made in Italy, have a sturdy frame, and come with a hard case for protection. Every man needs at least a couple classic-style sunglasses to accent his bulbous dome, and these are definitely worthy of your consideration.
