You’re never too old to learn a new trick, and a 100-year-old car manufacturer is never too old to discover that it is no longer hip to be square. The Volvo Concept Coupe has a lot of nice surprises, including a lowered stance, sporty lines, and generous 21-inch rims.
The Volvo has received a face lift, with what is being called a “floating grill” and t-shaped DRL light guides. Its new front end is very masculine, featuring massive air inlets to feed an all new 2.4-liter gasoline hybrid plug-in, which has been both supercharged and turbocharged for the combined veracity of 400 horsepower.
One of the most stunning aspects of the cockpit will be a handcrafted, sparkling crystal gear shift accented with brushed aluminum, aged wood, and dark blue woven carpet. The center dash contains a portrait sized touch screen, which will interact with the driver via an adaptive ‘heads-up’ display.
We like what you have here, Volvo -so don’t go changing too much from here to the production line.
