We were nudged this week about the possibility of Google planning an integrated laptop docking station for the Android.
That’s great, we said, and then went back to licking our screens, and dreaming about the ClamCase ClamBook.
We like clams. They may not always be appreciated, but if you know what you’re doing, you could make something pretty spectacular out of one. Here’s our favorite recipe:
Take a medium-rare 13.3-inch, 1280 x 720 pixel, 16:9 ratio, WXGA LED-backlit display, and place it delicately on an island keyboard with dedicated Android keys. Now, drizzle a little 3D Cinema sound on it, and serve it up on an incredibly thin aluminum platter. No need for chopsticks, as this can be devoured quite easily using your fingers.
Let’s face it, the reason why the smartphone has not dominated the coffee shop completely, is because it is hard to get a lot done on such a tiny keyboard and screen. They’ve come out with a few options, but nothing with the capability of a Macbook Air or equivalent. However, that is about to change.
The ClamCase will be an extension of your smartphone, and will allow your iPhone or Android to become a full fledged workstation. We don’t know a lot about it, yet, but we do know it will come with its own battery capable of charging your phone while docked, and it may be out in time for your 2013 Christmas list.
We’ll be keeping an eye on it…
