Watered down drinks are for sissies. Back in the days when a real Scot wore a skirt, they would go down to the riverbed, pull a few chilled stones out, and drop them in their mugs of home brewed delight. What was so brilliant about this seemingly barbaric act, was it kept their drink chilled without watering down their alcohol. Today’s man doesn’t like mixing dirt with their whiskey, so the company, Rox, has upgraded the traditional stone to a manufacturing process of taking a slab of 100% soap stone, whittling it down to a 1-inch by 1-inch cube (larger for beer), and then packages it up in a cotton satchel for your consideration.
There are a few reasons why their “Rox” are better than those other guy’s. Soapstone is 100% natural (non-toxic), it’s easy to cut, easy to smooth out (not too harsh on the glass or lips), and is easy to clean. They are fairly lightweight (won’t break your teeth), non-porous (won’t take on the odors of your freezer), and have the ability to hold a thermal temperature for an extended period of time (your drink won’t get warm). They also make rox for your beer, wine, and coffee, so these things are pretty versatile. What’s not to love about that?~
