Go ahead and rub your eyes, this is no dream. The NSX is being redesigned for a comeback in 2015, and get this… it will be built here in the United States (in a plant in central Ohio, no less). Now, there will be a couple of changes from the original. For one, it will be built as a hybrid, running off three kick-in-the-pants electric motors. All this instantaneous torque will then be backed by a mid-engine, direct-injected, rear-wheel-drive V-6.
Interestingly, the first two motors will power the front wheels (as you’d expect), while the third will be offering some assistance to the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. If you haven’t already done the math, we’ll do it for you. What you’re basically looking at here is an all-wheel-drive NSX, featuring a brain capable of adjusting torque control during hard cornering.
The estimated cost of this supercar will put it comfortably between the Porsche 911 and Audi R8 ($115,000), and from what we hear through the rumor mill, your pretty much seeing how the car will get cranked out at the factory. In other words, Acura has every intention of making this “concept” a reality! Now, we’re not too crazy about the wheels, but we all know how easy those would be to change.
