If you think 1080p and BluRay offer crisp detail, then the new 4k resolution will blow your mind. It’s four times the resolution of full HD. That means you can sit closer without getting a pixelated view.
The higher resolution means there’s the potential for even larger screens for you home theater slash man cave, but since it’s all new, the prices might be prohibitive for a while. Makers like Sony, LG and a few others have already started producing units.
One issue – finding content in the 4k format. Fortunately someone is looking out for us, and the RedRay digital content player has that figured out. Best of all, it will link up with Odemax.com in early 2013 so you can access feature films from home. But in the case of Sony’s XBR-84X900 (uncertain of other brands offering this) the picture engine will upscale the video content, regardless of whether its from cable/satellite or even your favorite movies on Blu-ray Disc. Damn…
If that’s not soon enough to stream the latest movies to screen, you can always check out Prima Cinema.
This technology isn’t reserved for just the 88 inch plus behemoth TV’s either. It’s also is making it’s way into monitors of all sizes as well.
