Will Smith and Behemoth Set Trailer Get the Boot From the Big Apple

Earlier this morning, Men in Black star, Will Smith, was in good humor about complaints by the city of New York, that his movie trailer was too big for the streets of Soho. To the complaints, Smith responded with his characteristic humor, “There’s no need to argue, the people in Soho just don’t understand.”

Later in the day, Smith’s humor soured, as the realization that his trailers, which were now moved a half mile from the set, would make it a bit of a trek to get to in between scene shoots. “He ain’t real happy,” says sources. Unbeknownst to the star, the city was truly irked at the stature and exhaust fumes coming from his behemoth mansion on wheels.

To give an idea of the amount of space these trailers were taking up, the main trailer (a.k.a. “The Heat”) is 53 feet long (22 wheels, 1,150 square feet) and can double in height at the press of a button. It features a lounge, granite bathroom, and 100-inch HDTV. The second trailer (parked nearby), features marble floors, offices for his staff, and an Olympic sized gym.

From here on out, officials warn production crews may need to pull permits before they haul their trailers onto the city’s blocks.

Message to Hollywood: Unless you’re giving out hotdogs, stay the hell off our streets!
